White River Canoeing Canoe Trip

I think i saw the northern lights on a canoe trip when i did the chapleau nemogosenda river. let me know (pls)?
About 2 weeks ago i did a canoe trip on the chapleau Nemogesenda river and we were staying at a site by picnic rock on the Nemogesenda river and one night me and some of the boys decided to stay up and watch the stars we saw some shooting stars and even some meteors with a fire tail but we kept seeing flashes of lightning but there were no clouds in the sky it was always a white Color the next day the weather was overcast but just rain clouds above and in the morning it was clear. was this white color the northern lights or something unexplainable to you?
Aurora can be varied in color, but over the US it is usually green hued. What you describe as lightening, if it was like cirrus clouds can sometimes look, and about as wide as the moon in the sky, it very well could have been Aurora. Those small gouts can move fairly quickly across the sky too.
http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/pmap/index.html Gives the current auroral ovals, plus one of the links takes you back about 5 days. If you contact them, they might be able to provide you a link to the night you are curious about.
