Canadian Canoeing North Wales
One of the best places to vacation, especially for those with an appreciation for the outdoors, is the North Central Washington. NCW The region extends from the Canadian border in the north to the lower central Washington in the south and from the Cascade Mountains in the west to the Roosevelt Lake area in the east. The entire area there are a number of camps, lakes, rivers, state parks, mountains, trails, and more. These are just three of the wonderful places to see when was traveling north central Washington.
Lake Chelan
One of the most beautiful in all of Washington is Lake Chelan. Lake Chelan is a lake 51 miles long that stretches from the rolling hillsides barren in the east to the Cascade Mountains, in the open west. The towns of Chelan and Manson sit on the coast Southeast and feature hotels, restaurants, condominiums, and a number of shopping opportunities. At the upper end of the lake is the community of Stehekin not have roads leading in or out of it. Stehekin is accessible only by trail, float plane or boat of water. Taking the trip to Lake Chelan to Stehekin is a great way to spend a day or a weekend.
Ancient lakes
Located just off Highway 28 a few miles west of the community of Quincy is an area known as ancient lakes. These small lakes are in a small valley and give a great view of the field in eastern Washington appeared centuries. There are trails that run through the area and even take passengers up the canyon walls. Camping is permitted at the site of ancient lakes and so is fishing. About Dusty Lake and the Columbia River can be reached by trails. No motor vehicles allowed in ancient lakes area beyond the parking area which is more than one or two miles away.
Sun Lakes State Park
Just south of Coulee City and the lake is the Sun Lakes State Park. This is a wonderful place to anyone wanting to get out and enjoy the outdoors in North Central Washington. The park has access to a series of small lakes where fishing, kayaking, swimming and canoeing are possible. There are rental cabins, a golf course, boat rental, and a good selection of campsites are available there. Nearby attractions include Dry Falls, Banks Lake, Soap Lake, and Lake Lenore Caves.
