How do I repair a canoe?

I have a Galyan’s Woodsman II canoe. It is basically made of plastic, and I need to reinforce two sections. I think I need a skid plate or just some fiberglass patch, but I want to make sure that my repair will hold. Basically, the plastic has worn through from pulling up on the rocks. Can someone suggest the materials I need to fix this?
