Topping our list of top urban centers, Guilford, Conn. located about 20 minutes southeast of New Haven, the sports center Guilford common great city a striking framed by well-maintained colonial historic houses, restaurants and cafes and shops run independently. It is actually a "mom and pop" shop-type city like many of the shops in the boutique and gallery type, but the general feeling is outmoded, quiet and safe. Running the second place behind Guilford is Wolfeboro, NH Wolfeboro Maybe if I had mountains and a lake, then, would be just another downtown, but when combined nice shops with all that glorious Winnepesaukee water lake and the mountains behind it, the city comes alive. It is a beautiful city to walk to the lake and mountains behind a few blocks of shops and restaurants. Perhaps this is why Wolfeboro is known as the oldest American Resort Town ".

Coming in third is the city of Concord, Massachusetts, home of the Revolutionary War. This city in western suburban Boston home superbly maintained its considerable historical with some of the most impressive colonial houses in the region, looking for a great public library, the peaceful town common Monument Square, and a lot of small shops and restaurants in its downtown and surrounding neighborhoods Depot Square. The trees on the side streets have a classic look with a New England home big after another – many with beautiful porches, white picket fences and back to keep going and going. Beautiful, historic Walden Pond, Concord River (large canoe) and the Old North Bridge are within walking distance.

Weston, Vermont, is our next best option for the downtown. The center of everything is on the National Register Historic Places! The milestone Vermont Country Store From the sales center serves as the village (you can spend a day shopping in this store rustic, charming, who specializes in a lot of "hard to find" goods), with beautiful rural village scenes, a gazebo in the common people, classic white churches of Vermont, inns and views of the mountains surrounding venerable Green.

In the rear, but still end up as one of our favorite is the urban centers of Bristol, Rhode Island, known as the "most patriotic city in America," Bristol has displayed American flags throughout the city, a red, white and blue painted median strip of downtown and the fourth oldest of July celebration in the U.S. (which is truly a celebration of spirit!). Bristol seems that the proverbial "All-American" city where everyone seems to know others, and shops that serve residents and tourists alike (books, toys, photography, coffee shops, and other delicious local small town stores). Bristol is also full of restaurants, many specializing in seafood (the Lobster Pot, Quito, to name a few). Of course, Bristol is the ideal location – situated on scenic Narragansett and Mt. Hope Bays, you can get nice glimpses of the waters of downtown and views even better on the periphery, especially in the beautiful Colt State Park and the impressive Mt. Bridge of Hope. Bristol is so special, many locals prefer another wonderful Rhode Island destination, Newport. Now that is saying something!

New England has many urban centers other memorable, like Keene, NH, Hanover, NH, Stonington Borough, Connecticut, Bar Harbor, Maine, Welfleet (Cape Cod), Mass., and Montpelier, Vermont, validating that many streets main may serve as part of its "core" New England travel planning, or moving potential.
