canoe around Dallas?

I am planning to canoe for the long weekend of May in and around Dallas. U can pls tell me where it is located. It would very helpful if anyone has been there. We are also inexperienced. So, there should be a safe river. If u can say about Houston or San Antonio, then, that's fine too.

Hey, I've heard of people kayaking on the Trinity River, near Ft Worth. It's a quiet little river. In Austin, is Lake City where you can rent canoes. It's in the center and very nice. In New Braunfels, near San Antonio, is that theme park "Schlitter Bahn" that will be crowded now. However, the river that runs next to it is great for swimming and floating in one of those big black buns (I forgot my are called): (
