Where is the best place to live in Oregon?

Where is the best place to live in Oregon? I'm thinking of moving there Indiana with my wife. Our price range is $ 500,000 or less. Podunk nothing if not a suburb of Portland. We are outdoor activities (hiking and canoeing) and work is not a problem. Thanks

I suggest you consider Corvallis and Eugene Oregon. Both are nice places. Both are college towns – Corvallis (OSU) and Eugene (U of O), which provide a wealth of sports and other entertainment options Besides the educational opportunities. Corvallis is more conservative, quiet and has a small town. Eugene, though not very large for some of the rules is more metropolitan. Eugene is also more liberal attitude with some retro 60's. You could say that is the Berkeley of Oregon.
