Is there any place in Maryland to go swimming than in a chlorinated pool?

I refuse to use public swimming pools. I recently moved here ADK from the mountains of NY where fresh water for swimming and kayaking are plentiful. I live north of Baltimore and I have no idea where to find these places secrets to those activities. Anyone here?

There are beaches along the Chesapeake Bay at Sandy Point. You can also cross the bridge Bay Ocean City, Rehoboth and Bethany Beach. Some people kayaking on the Potomac River, but you have to be an expert, because it is very difficult. Deep Creek Lake is very nice and not over run with tourists. I'm sure there are other places, too. Check the Baltimore Sun or The Washington Post for recreation sites.
