Fjordland
This area of New Zealand is almost in Norway in appearance, with its U-shaped glaciers and towering snow-capped mountains. Spectacular waterfalls cascading along the valley and these can be explored via sea kayak. The largest of these volcanoes Ruapehu played Mount Doom in the Lord Rings and although all three are still active volcanoes, this does not thrill-seekers from skiing down its slopes or hiking up its craters.
