The best place to live for late 30s couple with a child – Omaha, Nashville, Raleigh?

We are looking to leave Houston (tired of long trips and traffic). I have good employment prospects in Omaha, Nashville and Raleigh, but still to visit any. All 3 rank well in places to live in sites custom and magazines. Any vision of people who have lived in these places? We like doing things outdoors, like running, playing Frisbee with the dog, hiking and canoeing.

Omaha would be my pick of the 3 and the Midwest has a lot of open space and things to do for the outdoor type
