Want to know a secret? There is a state park and beach in southern Florida that nobody seems to know.

Beautiful surroundings, a magnificent sun splashed beach … that could only have all for you.

Where is the Florida park, secluded beach? It's really close!

Introducing

… John D. MacArthur Beach State Park. North is a little known jewel of Singer Island and south of Jupiter Beach on the Atlantic Ocean.

This park is totally amazing state of Florida has a tropical climate dunes path and a beautiful beach. Urban expansion has not come here for the beach and the park is quiet most of the year. You can not see anyone!

Interesting Park beyond

The beach has an interesting history, dating from when it was called Beach Air Force during World War II. What is now Palm Beach International Airport was an Air Force base at the time. Apparently, the military launched a few beach parties pretty wild, so it was (unofficially) the name of the Air Force Beach!

Some time later, John D. MacArthur, bought the land, anxious to preserve the untouched southern part of Florida safety. He donated the land in the 1970s and park (which takes its name) opened in 1989.

Barrier: What barrier?

MacArthur Beach State Park is located on a barrier island, which is long and narrow, which separates the mainland from the sea. Although condominiums and hotels have taken over many of the beautiful barrier islands of Florida, not this one – which continues be "au naturale"!

Whether in search of …

… Sea turtles! Rare species of marine turtles known to nest here, including the loggerhead and leatherback turtles endangered much rarer. You probably will not see the turtles, but you can see the evidence that has been around. If you really want to see the turtles, there are ranger-led walks in May and June. Make reservations through advanced office – these trips are very popular.

You can see some roseate spoonbills in the park. Huh? Roseate spoonbills are fascinating birds, their feathers are pink ( "pink flamingo") and the end of their bills are spoon-shaped.

Bird watching tours are also occasionally available for Ornithology inclined.

Beaching It!

The only thing more surprising that glorious Florida State Park is that very few people come here. Possibly because there are plenty Public beaches are north and south, MacArthur Beach State Park is quiet. Sereno. And it is likely to have the two miles of beach to yourself!

Swimming in the water, reef snorkel or try one of the surfing clinics at the park – the beach has all sorts of possibilities!
