canoeing southern california
in some places to canoe in southern California?

Hello I am looking for a place to go canoeing. I just want to go somewhere, rent a canoe and paddle with my girlfriend. I prefer a lake because we are both inexperienced. I am willing to drive about 75 mile radius of downtown Los Angeles. Any company or sites would be great! thanks!

Unfortunately, a lot of areas not rent canoes here. I'm from the Midwest originally, and there are boats in each park in a lake. In California, Kayak Sit on top are more or less it. However, it can be as fun. Head down to Newport Beach. Southwind Kayak Center in Irvine, has a rental center Newport Bay. You may remain fully protected waters, very stable rent Kayaks Sit-on top (either 1 or 2 tandem boats only) and explore the Back Bay nature preserve. (which can also be canoes there, in fact) http://www.southwindkayaks.com/maphours.html newportmap # (Scroll to the bottom of the linked page for the location Newport.) The people of South Wind is really nice, I'll get you fully equipped and gives you some tips before you leave. Water at the launch site is Very smooth and a lake. After you feel comfortable with your boat, you can get out in the channels around Balboa Island and look at all the mansions along the shore. There are a handful of neighborhood beaches ovsea lionsr can throw a picnic or just rest. Look for jellyfish in the water occasionally. Most of the gelatin in the bay are the type that really do not bite (it's so weak that it feels it). We paddled with sea lions in the bay again, we've seen a lot of great blue heron, eagles fishers, and
