"Where is the Garden Route?" you may ask. This is a section of 200 kilometers of the South African coast stretches from the city Mossel Bay right next to the other of the Tsitsikamma National Park. I recently took some time to return to the Garden Route, this time to research what the fun things exciting thing to do in the Garden Route. It is a fabulous and a definite "must see" for anyone visiting South Africa. To sum up the Garden Route, I call it "adventure activities and outdoor golf Mecca of South Africa!" I have gathered some suggestions where you are staying the night that might include these in your itinerary.

1. Swartberg Pass near Oudtshoorn and Meiringspoort – a magnificent day trip to enjoy a picnic lunch stop at a beautiful waterfall in Meiringspoort, spectacular mountain scenery and panoramic views.

2. Seven-step path, the original road between George and Knysna – dense indigenous forests, rivers of black tannin-rich water, deep gorges and a prolific bird life.

3. Montagu Pass – through the majestic Outeniqua Mountains between George and Oudtshoorn, the original route built in 1848 with convict labor.

Mossel Bay

Shark Cage Diving – an uplifting experience that I would recommend anyone! Mossel Bay has the most accessible great white shark experience in the world, offering a smaller boat trip more comfortable in calmer waters of competition in Gansbaai, near Cape Town. You will leave with a new respect for these magnificent predators.

Oudtshoorn – great place to visit, especially if it's raining everywhere in the Garden Route. Oudtshoorn is the capital of the Little Karoo, classified as a semi desert so you can count on the weather was pretty good most of the year.

Cango Caves – an underground wonderland with the most spectacular formations of stalactites and stalagmites

Cango Ostrich Farm – Learn about the farming industry that made famous Oudtshoorn ostrich and take a ride on an ostrich!

Cango Wildlife Ranch – A haven for wildlife species threatened with extinction. Get up close and personal with a cheetah or dive with the crocodiles.

Wilderness – a quiet seaside village, offering a variety of outdoor activities such as paragliding, canoeing to Touws River, Hiking trails through the enchanted forests indigenous Kloofing and abseiling.

Knysna – from a bustling little town with lots to offer!

I recommend the experience of 4 hours in Eco Featherbed Bay, which includes a boat ride on the lagoon, a nature tour in the reserve, a tractor-trailer traveling and a delicious lunch in a restaurant with class under the old Milkwood trees.

Quads, mountain biking and Harkerville forests in Knysna, Knysna heads Abseiling, canoeing on the Knysna River, Walking in the Knysna Forest

Plettenberg Bay – another bustling city on your itinerary include offering a variety of outdoor activities, something for the whole family. Many children in the activities offered as well.

Elephant Sanctuary – where you can walk with these gentle giants and even ride one

Birds of Eden – a magnificent display of birds worldwide!

Monkeyland – fascinating and informative!

Tsitsikamma National Park

The Big Tree Larger – Outeniqua Yellowwood tree in the area with a perimeter of 8.5 m and a height of 36m. This is one of the largest tree species that we have in South Africa and the most beautiful in my opinion.

Tree Top Canopy Tours – offering fun and adventure cable sliding a big tree to the next, a great way to introduce our beautiful native forest and its inhabitants soon!

Hiking trails along the rugged coastline

Beaches crystal waters

Of course not forget that this whole stretch of coast has a host of magnificent beaches, most of them with "flag blue. "Heralds Bay, Glentana and Victoria Bay, near George, Wilderness beach, Buffels Bay, Noetsie Bay, Plettenberg Bay and Nature's Valley, which offer more hot Indian Ocean waters and beautiful stretches of golden sand. This makes the Garden Route superb summer destination!

Golf is a huge activity in the Route Garden with some of the golf courses in the world, here as Fancourt Country Club Estate offers 4 courses built by Gary Player, our South African golf icon, George Golf Course, Simola Golf Estate, Pezula Championship Golf Course that offers the most spectacular scenery, Knysna Golf Course and Goose Valley Golf Course in Plettenberg Bay.
