No matter what the season will take Vermont vacations, you'll see these seven scenic wonders and fall in love with the Green Mountain. GREEN MOUNTAIN NATIONAL FOREST

The Green Mountain National Forest is 400,000 acres stretching by two thirds the length of Vermont. The forest has six wilderness areas offering camping and 900 miles of trails, and off-track environment for all ages. Camps are available on a first come during the summer season.

Popular destinations in the forest are the road near Robert Frost's Ripton, Texas, near the Falls recreation area for Hancock, Moosalamoo area near Brandon, and Lake Dunmore State Park Brandbury

Quechee GORGE

Located in downtown Vermont, near the town of Woodstock, Quechee Gorge is a geological marvel. Nicknamed Vermont Grand Canyon, the canyon was carved when the last glacier covering New England receded about 12,000 years ago. Today Ottauguechee River flows through the throat and is crossed by a bridge, a stunning view photogenic for visitors.

The park entrance is located west of the bridge, and offers routes to the throat and nature of forest walks.

Scenic Route 100 from Killington to Waterbury

Vermont has many landscape units, but none more scenic than the portion of Route 100 from Killington to Waitsfield. The route borders the Green Mountain National Forest and meanders through mountain valleys, rivers, streams, waterfalls and small agricultural villages. Along this route you will move from open farmland to the rugged mountain cliffs on both sides of a narrow, winding, and then eventually back to open fields.

The last part of the trip to Waterbury offers wonderful views of green mountains far north.

STOWE

Nestled between two mountain ranges is perhaps the most picturesque city in New England – Stowe. The draw and attraction for many of Stowe's Mount Mansfield, and the mountain dominates the landscape.

After the snow melts, the families have an endless variety of things to do on vacation in Vermont, such as swimming, hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and scenic driving. Mount Mansfield offers trails for the adjustment and energy, or you can take in spectacular views from your own vehicle while driving the summit ridge in the historic toll road.

ISLAND LAKE Champlain and

Lake Champlain looks like a lost cousin of the Great Lakes. Long and deep, but with an average width of only 12 miles, its northern area is dotted with a magnificent chain of islands popular for vacations in Vermont. Routes 2 and 78 connecting the largest together and the mainland of Vermont. One of the last "discover" the treasures of New England, the Lake Champlain Islands offer magnificent views of the mountains Vermont Green east, and New York's Adirondack west.

NORTHEAST KINGDOM

The Northeast Kingdom is a great 1.3 million acres of mostly desert, including public forests, parks, lakes, ponds, rivers and streams. This is an area where little has changed since the glaciers left, and adventurers find plenty of opportunity to live your dream Vermont vacation.

Shares of Nature's Northeast Kingdom with people, and this is an area where wildlife and the landscape is king, and people with pleasure into the background. Load capacity up their bivouac and supplies in St. Johnsbury, check your gas level, and be prepared for an exciting experience!

COVERED BRIDGES

No mention of the wonders of Vermont may omit the finest collection of covered bridges in the States USA. If you include bridges shared with New Hampshire and Connecticut, covering the River, the state has 106, which is more than any other state in New England. Most bridges are accessible to the public, in excellent condition, and a joy to discover and photograph.
