Spending the day in Cardiff Bay
If you want to fill your day with sports, arts, shopping or just stroll along the coast, the Cardiff Bay is the place that offers the experience of entertainment or leisure needs.
Formerly known as the largest coal exporting port in the world, Cardiff Bay by the 1980s was an empty lot full of abandoned buildings, but has changed its image and profile with the introduction of Dam Cardiff completed in 1999. This barrage impounded the river Taff and Ely river to create a regeneration area dominated by the newly formed freshwater lake south of downtown Cardiff city.
Completed with the attractions offered today, Cardiff Bay is almost two million visitors to its coastline each year. Among the main attractions is now available The Welsh Assembly at the Pierhead, the Norwegian Church Arts Center, the Wales Millennium Center or Goleulong 2000 lighthouse, while the Techni Quest Discovery Science Center and the Atlantic Wharf Leisure Village provide entertainment for the whole family.
Plans for Cardiff Bay attractions future include a Welsh National Canoe and Rafting center with 50m pool and a leisure water complex, an ice rink as part of the second St David's, a supermarket Morrisons and a Toys-R-Us store will be the largest in Europe.
A visit to Cardiff Bay can also bring a local festival, national or international as Welsh Food Festival and Carnival MAS. With all this and much more to offer, Cardiff Bay must be one of your favorite destinations when you are looking for a fun time.
The largest coal export port in the world has certainly changed its image with the construction of the dam from Cardiff, creating a lake freshwater is approximately 500 acres and led to 8 miles of shoreline. One of the innovations planned for the near future, is the Village International Sport in Cardiff Bay in Peninsula Ferry Road and intended to be used as an Olympic training site if completed by 2012. Other projects under construction at this time include a temporary ice rink in wood framing, a leisure complex and swimming pool water 50 meters, as part of the canoe Welsh National and Rafting Center. The water resort is completed, as the International Sports Village in Cardiff Bay, around 2012. The increasing development of the area also includes construction of new stores as the largest Toys-R-Us store in Europe means to replace the demolition in the city center and a supermarket Morrisons that it is likely to reduce the dominance of the local market giants Asda and Tesco grocery. Some historic buildings are to be forgiven by development plans as the Church of Norway and the Pierhead building but the rest of the historic area of the dock will be in vogue with leisure facilities such as cinemas, restaurants, shops, offices and even housing. The plans also include a new headquarters for the National Assembly for Wales, which will be designed by Richard Rogers.

The shops and supermarkets offer a wide variety of quality shopping at very low prices that can make your day a lot of fun. The Wales Millennium Center for the Performing Arts is always ready to offer a quality show if it is ballet, opera, dance or music.
