Things To Do In Brisbane
There aren’t many places in the world as loved and talked about as Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo, home of his dear crocodile and profusions of other wildlife friends. Visiting South East Queensland would seem unfinished without a day or two allocated to this fascinating attraction.
Seeing Oz’s iconic wildlife is all part of the Australian experience, and there’s nowhere better than at award-winning Australia Zoo.
This is one of my favourite drives, with pine trees lining the road and clear open skies ahead. Many tackle Mount Tibrogargen and Mount Beerwah, with their spectacular views a drawcard for adventurers all over the world.
once you have seen these mountains you will know you are close. Beerwah is accessed through the Steve Irwin Way just left off the Bruce road. And why wouldn’t they? However [*COMMA] this part of the Earth was still beautiful before the zoo, with the Blackall Ranges skirting the borders, and untouched natural beauty in all directions, it was merely a matter of time before the world came to go to.
My first impression of Australia Zoo was of complete excellence and dedication to the preservation of wildlife. The Crocoseum is centre piece, with seating for thousands surrounding the crocodile pool.
Don’t leave without a python photo, and some space at one of the many food kiosks available. My children were in shock of the giant turtles, albino kangaroo and gentle elephants.
If you want to remain a bit, my choice would be the Landsborough Pines Caravan Park, found only 2 kilometres from Australia Zoo.
Montville is ideal if you feel like a step back in time with craft shops and art galleries galore. Take a relaxing drive through to Maleny and Mapleton and luxuriate in the old fashioned shops on the way.
There are plenty of activities central to Beerwah. Not only is their an abundance of mountain climbing and walking tracks available, but pony riding is also popular here, as is fishing, swimming and canoeing. The Beerwah golf Club provides a challenge for the beginner thru to the avid golfer, complete with kangaroos observing on the fringes.
It’s attractive every day.

This is one of my favorite drives, with pine trees lining the road and clear open skies ahead. You know you’re getting closer when the Glasshouse Mountains come into view, a mesmerising panorama of bluffs and sheer cliffs that rise up to the clouds.
when you have seen these mountains you will know you are close. Beerwah is accessed via the Steve Irwin Way just left off the Bruce road. And why would not they? [**] this part of the planet was still beautiful before the zoo, with the Blackall Ranges skirting the borders, and untouched natural beauty in all directions, it was just a matter of time before the world came to visit. There are a few things for each age group, and each attraction is fascinating and tutorial. The shows are entertaining and passionate, just like Steve Irwin, with just as much support and enthusiasm from the onlookers.
You could simply spend one or two days here ( or longer ) learning about our valuable wildlife and getting back in touch with nature at its best.
if you want to remain a bit, my choice would be the Landsborough Pines Caravan Park, found only 2 kilometres from Australia Zoo. With glorious facilities and an amazing location besieged by trees and parkland, you could end up here for a while.
There are superb bushwalking tracks, and impressive views across the Blackall Range and thru to the Coast. Take a chilled drive through to Maleny and Mapleton and revel in the old fashioned shops along the path.
Head to Maroochydore ( just fifteen minutes away ) for a short trip and if you are heading further north to Noosa, do not forget to drop in on the famous Eumundi markets complete with entertainment, art and craft, local cuisine and fresh food.
There are plenty of activities central to Beerwah. The Beerwah golfing Club provides a challenge for the beginner thru to the avid golfer, complete with kangaroos observing on the fringes.
Another attraction here is the Bungy Bullet, not for the faint hearted, but another great thrill close to home.
It’s beautiful each day.
Opened by the Irwin family in the 1970s, Queensland’s Australia Zoo was later managed by everybody’s favorite crocodile expert, Steve Irwin.
Steve Irwin, the famous Crocodile Hunter from Australia died just about 3 years back. This was the start of the’Crocodile Hunter’ series. More than 150 episodes were recorded and today they’ve been viewed in over 140 states by over five hundred million people across the globe.
From an early age, Steve suffered exposure to wildlife as his mom and dad ran a reptile park in Queensland. He took an active role in the park, performing numerous requirements. It was his dad who was Steve’s hero. He took Steve with him on various field journeys to rescue crocodiles or remove them from populated areas.
Terri and Steve met at the Reptile Park in Queensland. Terri was visiting from Eugene, Oregon in central USA. Terri was 27 and Steve was twenty-nine. She also worked as a Veterinary Technician in a veterinary hospital.
He’s extremely like his pop. Steve died on fourth September 2006. He was out at sea in Australia, shooting a documentary on the threatening creatures of the ocean. A stingray’s barb entered his chest and finished him almost instantly. It seems ironic to suspect that this is only the second death in Australia by a stingray – how unlucky he was, this man that wrestles crocodiles for a job. The Australian country was annihilated by his demise and the rest of the world mourned his lost.
Steve did so much good work in raising awareness for charities and wildlife trusts. His folks carry on his wishes each day. Australia Zoo continues to draw in lots of visitors every year and is a must do as part of your visit to Australia. Found just 70km from Brisbane, this zoo has a large number of Australian animals including the Steve’s crocodiles.
The Irwin Family continue to market Steve’s good causes and are celebs in their own right now.
Steve Irwin was without doubt a great Australian. He’s sadly missed.
You’ll find all the Aussie tops like koalas, wombats, dingoes, kangaroos, crocodiles, snakes and Tasmanian devils, as well as not-so-Australian animals, like tigers, elephants and cheetahs.
